ERCO Worldwide is looking for a Process Engineer to join our Toronto Engineering team! This position will work within the Engineering Department for a 1-year term, providing process engineering support to all ERCO businesses. This includes process design, process optimisation and project support for the ERCO’s Sodium Chlorite, Hydrochloric Acid and Chlor‑Alkali manufacturing sites. Also included in this role’s responsibilities will be providing process engineering support on patented R‑Series Chlorine Dioxide generators for external clients.
The Role:
- Participating in process engineering design efforts on projects within the Engineering Department to fulfil safety standards, environmental requirements and plant/customer satisfaction. Tasks include:
- Producing heat and material balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs).
- Preparing process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID’s).
- Calculating equipment, piping sizing and carrying out process calculations.
- Producing equipment specifications and tender documents.
- Participating in process hazard analysis (PHA).
- Providing process and sizing information for plant instrumentation.
- Preparing operating manuals and technical reports.
- Supporting commissioning and start‑up activities of process and mechanical systems.
- Participating and contributing to equipment 3D model reviews, piping design reviews and building plan layout reviews.
The Person:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Master’s Degree is an asset.
- Eligible for registration as a professional engineer of Ontario as a minimum. Licensed by a Professional Engineering Association in Canada. Membership with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) is preferred.
- 3‑6 years in Process Engineering in Chemical or related industries is required.
- Industry related experience in process engineering design preferred.
- Experience with Process Safety Management programmes, standards and regulations.
- Experience with H2 system design, AutoCAD and ASPEN is an asset.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work independently as well.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Eligible for work travel outside of Canada.
