The Role

We are seeking a committed and proactive Student Engagement Coordinator to lead the school’s Engagement Strategy for students at educational risk. In this role, you would design, coordinate and deliver targeted programs and pathways that provide responsive and effective support for students, families and staff. You will play a key role in building strong, professional connections between the school, students, their families and relevant community agencies, ensuring a collaborative approach to improving engagement and wellbeing.

The successful applicant would work directly with students to support their effective engagement with education, including conducting home visits to develop attendance, setting personal goals and implementing individual pathway plans to support growth. You will plan and deliver tailored activities, excursions and educational programs that foster confidence, learnership, self-esteem and respect among identified students. A core aspect of the role involves providing intensive, individualised support to students at risk of early school leaving, helping them connect to purposeful learning pathways. You should also stay informed on current issues and research effective practices related to students at educational risk, ensuring that programs and interventions remain evidence-based and impactful.

Eligibility

1. Demonstrated skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students at educational risk who are experiencing difficulties.

3. Demonstrated well developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.

5. Demonstrated knowledge of the youth sector, particularly Aboriginal education and youth development organisations and services.
