Ingénieur en Instrumentation

Temps plein | Permanent | Hybride ou Télétravail | Vancouver ou Calgary | ~10 % de déplacements

Objectif du poste

L’Ingénieur en Instrumentation soutient le portefeuille de projets de modernisation et de maintien d’actifs d’Orion Engineering à travers l’Ouest canadien. Le rôle consiste à fournir des services de conception en instrumentation de haute qualité, à appuyer le développement des systèmes de contrôle et à offrir un soutien en mise en service lorsque nécessaire. L’ingénieur travaillera en étroite collaboration avec des équipes multidisciplinaires pour exécuter les volets I&C depuis la phase conceptuelle jusqu’à la conception détaillée et la construction.

Ce poste convient à un ingénieur autonome possédant 5 à 8 ans d’expérience en instrumentation dans les secteurs du pétrole et gaz, du midstream, des terminaux ou des installations industrielles lourdes.

Responsabilités principales

Conception et ingénierie en instrumentation

  • Développer et réviser les livrables en instrumentation, incluant :Fiches techniques d’instrumentsListes d’E/SSchémas de bouclesSchémas de câblageRécits de contrôleClés d’arrêt et matrices C&E
  • Réaliser le dimensionnement, la sélection et la spécification des instruments (débitmètres, transmetteurs, vannes, analyseurs).
  • Appuyer l’intégration des interfaces PLC/HMI et les exigences des systèmes de contrôle.
  • Examiner les données fournisseurs, les demandes d’achat et les soumissions techniques.

Exécution de projets

  • Exécuter les volets instrumentation sur plusieurs projets brownfield simultanés.
  • Contribuer aux estimations, à la planification, aux rapports d’avancement et à la gestion des changements.
  • Participer aux revues de conception, HAZOP et évaluations techniques.
  • Assurer la conformité aux normes de projet, aux codes applicables et aux spécifications des clients.
  • Coordonner avec les équipes électriques, mécaniques, civiles et procédés.

Soutien terrain et mise en service

  • Fournir un soutien technique lors de l’installation, des essais et de la mise en service.
  • Effectuer des visites de site (~10 % de déplacements) pour des inspections, redlines, dépannages et soutien à la construction.
  • Répondre aux demandes d’information (RFI) et appuyer la résolution des enjeux terrain.

Qualifications essentielles

  • 5 à 8 ans d’expérience en instrumentation ou en ingénierie I&C.
  • Baccalauréat en génie électrique, instrumentation, chimique ou discipline connexe.
  • Expérience en conception d’instrumentation pour les secteurs pétrole et gaz, midstream, terminaux ou industriel lourd.
  • Solide compréhension des codes canadiens, des normes industrielles et des processus EPC.
  • Maîtrise de la spécification d’instruments, du développement de boucles et des interfaces systèmes de contrôle.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière autonome en mode hybride ou télétravail.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication et coordination multidisciplinaire.
  • Compétences clés en I&C

Atouts souhaités

  • Expérience avec les systèmes Honeywell, Rockwell ou Schneider.
  • Connaissance des MCC et interfaces électriques.
  • Expérience en mise en service, démarrage ou dépannage terrain.
  • Expérience en projets brownfield ou en maintien d’actifs.
  • Connaissance des réseaux industriels (Modbus, Ethernet/IP).

Environnement de travail

Instrumentation Engineer

Full Time | Permanent | Hybrid or Remote | Vancouver or Calgary | ~10% Travel

Role Purpose

The Instrumentation Engineer supports Orion’s brownfield and sustaining‑capital project portfolio across Western Canada. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality instrumentation design, supporting control system development, and providing field/commissioning support as needed. You’ll work closely with multi‑discipline teams to execute I&C scopes from concept through detailed design and into construction.

Ideal for a self‑sufficient engineer with 5–8 years of instrumentation experience in oil & gas, midstream, terminals, or heavy industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation Design & Engineering

  • Develop and review instrumentation deliverables:Instrument datasheetsI/O listsLoop drawingsWiring diagramsControl narrativesShutdown keys & C&E matrices
  • Perform instrument sizing, selection, and specification (meters, transmitters, valves, analyzers).
  • Support PLC/HMI interface requirements and control system integration.
  • Review vendor data, material requisitions, and technical submissions.

Project Execution

  • Execute instrumentation scopes across multiple concurrent brownfield projects.
  • Support estimating, scheduling, progress reporting, and change management.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and technical evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, codes, and client specifications.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, civil, and process teams.

Field Support & Commissioning

  • Provide field engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Conduct site visits (~10% travel) for walkdowns, redlines, troubleshooting, and construction support.
  • Respond to RFIs and support resolution of field issues.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience delivering instrumentation design for oil & gas, midstream, terminals, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian codes, industry standards, and EPC workflows.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation specification, loop development, and control system interfaces.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote environment.
  • Strong communication and multi‑discipline coordination skills.
  • Explore core I&C competencies

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with Honeywell, Rockwell, or Schneider control systems.
  • Familiarity with MCCs and electrical interfaces.
  • Exposure to commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting.
  • Experience with brownfield modifications and sustaining‑capital projects.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking (Modbus, Ethernet/IP).

Work Environment

  • Hybrid or fully remote — candidate may work from home anywhere in Western Canada.
  • Optional office access in Vancouver or Calgary.
