Our client is seeking a Cad Designer/ 3D Modeler: Solidworks specializing in furniture production, woodworking, wood frame construction, and upholstery.
You will lead the end-to-end fabrication of bespoke pieces, overseeing complex custom jobs with a high degree of independence while operating in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires seamless collaboration with the internal CAD, and Project Management teams, as well as direct support to the CNC Programming team to problem-solve and engineer the best technical outcomes. You must be highly organized, managing your own workflow to set schedules to meet struct production deadlines while maintaining uncompromising quality standards.

Payrate: $-$ per hour depending on experience
Shift: Dayshift
**This position is on-site Monday-Friday. Hybrid or Remote work is not available.**
Responsibilities:
- Model Creation and Reverse Engineering (2D to 3D): Reverse engineer 2D AutoCAD drawings into precise 3D solid models.
- Surface Modeling: Utilize SolidWorks Surface features to modify, repair, or optimize complex geometry for tooling.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside project managers, CNC programmers, modelers, and production teams to incorporate design revisions and ensure parts are manufacturable.
- Quality Assurance: Verify all designs comply with relevant standards and manufacturing guidelines.
- CNC Overlap: Deliver clean, error-free 3D models optimized for CNC toolpath generation.
- Prototype Reviews: Collaborate with master builders, upholsterers, and sample makers to refine the initial physical build against the 3D model.
- Manage Engineering Changes: Document, update, and version-control 3D models based on floor-level feedback or client design revisions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- SolidWorks Mastery: 3-5 years of proven experience with SolidWorks is a requirement.
- Product Knowledge: Working with different wood species as material, and furniture is considered a strong asset.
- Surfacing Skills: Solid understanding of the Surface feature toolset within SolidWorks for complex geometry manipulation is a strong asset to possess.
- Mastercam Knowledge: Strong, demonstrable proficiency in Mastercam for toolpath generation and G-code output is considered an asset, but not a requirement.
- Nesting Knowledge: Experience with CNC nesting software, sheet layouts, and material optimization strategies is considered an asset, but not a requirement.
