Job description
UNIFOR LOCAL 302 POSTINGSFLOATER BASIC CUSTODIAN Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) provides first class education to students and families throughout Huron and Perth Counties. The home base school will be Mitchell District High School. This position will be deployed to replace absent staff in schools across the district, as well as to provide additional support to specific sites for special projects or to assist during peak workload periods.Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a minimum of ½ hour lunch break, for a total of 8.5 hours, 12 months a year, shift work is involvedStart Date: As soon as possibleMileage: Appropriate mileage will be paid as per AP 515-Travel & Expense ReimbursementRate of Pay: $26.10 - $26.59 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement Vacancy Status: current vacancyThe Basic Custodian duties may include:Building Maintenancechange lightsshovel snowoperate snow blowerclean and inspect roofoperate grass cutting equipmentperform minor repairsconduct health and safety checksservice roof top unit Building Cleaningoperate and maintain all equipmentperform all minor and major cleaning The ideal candidate should possess:the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers; knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.
