Project Manager


Position Overview


As a Project Manager at EeStairs, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of our bespoke staircase projects from conception to completion. You will collaborate closely with clients, architects, general contractors, engineers, and our internal teams to ensure that every project meets the highest standards of quality and functionality.


Job Description


As the driving force behind efficient and organized project planning and execution, ensuring every detail is accounted for. This includes:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans: Define project scope (objectives, deliverables, boundaries), set goals and create detailed timelines with tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate resources: work with the Project Director to effectively allocate manpower, materials, and equipment to optimize utilization and minimize waste.
  • Oversee and coordinate all project activities, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks and adapting to changing needs.
  • Maintain open communication with internal stakeholders (Plant Supervisor, Project Director, designers, engineers) to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.


You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication, managing expectations, and providing regular project updates to cultivate strong and lasting relationships. This involves:

  • Acting as the main point of contact between clients and the internal team, building strong relationships and understanding their needs.
  • Ensure open, consistent and accurate communication, using the company’s preferred channels and style.
  • Setting realistic expectations, address concerns proactively, and be transparent about progress and challenges.
  • Keep clients informed through agreed-upon reporting schedules and formats.
  • Foster long-term partnerships based on trust, responsiveness, and mutual respect.


Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and motivating team members to achieve project milestones and deliverables. Communicating continual improvement strategies to reduce costs and ensure smooth deliverables.

  • Skillfully work with individuals from different departments and vendor with complementary expertise to guide project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where team members communicate openly, share ideas, and work together effectively towards common goals. This may involve using collaborative tools and helping implement clear communication protocols.
  • Inspire and motivate team members to achieve project milestones and deliverables through clear communication of goals, recognition of achievements, and providing opportunities for growth and development.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve project processes, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of deliverables. This will involve implementing feedback mechanisms, analyzing data, and staying informed about industry’s best practices in the industry.
  • Proactively identify and address potential roadblocks, manage risks effectively, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget while meeting quality standards. This may involve using project management methodologies, tracking progress closely, and communicating effectively with stakeholders.


Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. (RFI’s, Submittals, production drawings, installation drawings, and sketches).

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control plan that includes regular inspections and reviews at each phase of the project. This may involve using checklists against the 3D model, conducting site visits, and reviewing RFI's, submittals, production drawings, installation drawings, and sketches.
  • Establish a system for tracking and managing any deviations from design specifications, quality standards, or regulatory requirements. This includes documenting the deviation, assessing its impact, and implementing corrective actions.


Identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success. Having a high level of proficiency in managing every aspect of the project.

  • Continuously analyze and identify potential risks that could impact the project, considering factors like resource and material availability, technical challenges, regulatory changes, and external dependencies.
  • Implement a system to actively monitor identified risks throughout the project lifecycle. Regularly review the effectiveness of mitigation strategies, adjust them as needed, and escalate any emerging risks to ensure timely intervention and maintain project success.


Effectively track project budgets, expenses, and profitability, manage a system to meticulously record and analyze relevant financial data, including estimated and actual costs, variances, and key profitability metrics, ensuring accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.

  • Regularly analyze project financials to assess profitability and identify any trends or areas of concern. This includes calculating key performance indicators (KPIs) such as return on investment (ROI), profit margins, and cost overruns. With the Project Director you’ll use this analysis to inform future project planning and budget decisions.


Qualifications


Post Secondary Education

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Industrial Design


Proven experience in Project Management:

  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in the successful execution of projects in architectural and/or industrial design and engineering.
  • Collaborating with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Managing multiple project schedules and tracking the critical path on each of them.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Staying current with industry trends and best practices in design.
  • Clear understanding of building codes, welding and engineering specifications
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and engineering drawings.


3D modeling:

  • Hands-on experience with 3D modeling software is an asset, with SolidWorks proficiency being highly preferred. This should include:
  • Creating complex 3D models with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Generating detailed 2D drawings from 3D models.
  • Utilizing advanced modeling techniques, such as surfacing, assemblies, and simulations.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of design principles and fabrication processes.


Hands-on construction or fabrication experience:

  • Practical experience in construction or fabrication is an asset, demonstrating a real-world understanding of how designs are translated into physical objects. Relevant experience could include:
  • Fabrication: Constructing components and assemblies from raw materials.
  • Welding and fitting: Joining metal components using various welding techniques.
  • Woodworking and carpentry: Building structures and components using wood.
  • Installations: Installing finished products or systems on-site.


Excellent communication skills:

  • Strong written, reading, and verbal communication skills in English are essential for effective collaboration and clear communication of design ideas. This involves:
  • Clearly articulate design concepts and technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Producing well-written documentation, including technical drawings and BOMs
  • Actively listening to and understanding the needs of clients and team members.
  • Communicating effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and engineering drawings.


Exceptional organizational and record-keeping skills:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records. This includes:
  • Effectively managing project files and documentation.
  • Tracking progress on tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintaining organized and accessible records of design revisions and communications.
  • Demonstrating a systematic approach to work.


Meticulous attention to detail:

  • A natural and consistent ability to identify and address even the smallest discrepancies in designs, ensuring accuracy and precision in every aspect of your work. This includes:
  • Thoroughly reviewing drawings and models for errors or omissions.
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy in measurements and calculations.
  • Paying close attention to tolerances, clearances, and other critical details.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to quality and precision in all tasks.
