What you will be doing…

Reporting to the Women Unlimited Program Director, the Program Coordinator's primary focus is the overall coordination of the Women Unlimited Career Exploration Program (CEP) and implementing the five key components of the model:

  • Recruit: Engage Diverse Women
  • Explore: 16-Week Career Exploration Program
  • Train: Support during Trades &Technology Programs
  • Work: Support to Transition into Employment
  • Change: Promote Safe and Respectful Workplaces

In addition, you will provide ongoing support to women in the Women Unlimited program, as well as to women in trades and technology programs on campus.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • A Community College certificate or diploma in a related discipline including Adult Education, Social Services, Gender and Women studies, Community Development, etc. is preferred and/or related work experience in the areas of Women Centre programming and equity-related training with a focus on sectors where women are under-represented, such as trades and technology.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in design and delivery of woman centered holistic programs and projects.
  • You have extensive experience working with equity-seeking, racialized and other diverse women.
  • Strong knowledge working with employability systems (i.e. ESIA, NS Works) as well as trade and technology programs offered at NSCC.
  • Demonstrated experience working in collaboration with various employers with experience building relationships and ongoing engagement.
  • Lived and first-hand experience within Indigenous communities, with a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, perspectives, and the challenges associated with accessing education and training, gained through community involvement, employment, volunteer work, or other meaningful engagement.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail and online platforms (Teams).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation related to employability based programs.
  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students.

  • You demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion which includes an understanding of equity, bias, intersectionality, and systemic barriers with a specific understanding of educational and employment barriers facing women in under-represented fields.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to develop strong relationships with a range of community, college-based and industry colleagues
  • You are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction
  • Your superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environment
  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in developing opportunities for diverse women to establish careers in trades and technology and advocate for inclusive policies and practices.
  • You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • You are a strong communicator
  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to the ability to effectively manage the day to day logistics of the program including financial reporting, scheduling, planning events, and report writing
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
  • You have strong project management skills with strong hands-on leadership and the ability to engage, inspire and influence others
  • You have strong knowledge of the current labour market trends within the trades and technology sectors
  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement who will strengthen existing working relationships within the college and community at large and develop new lasting working relationships
