Description

The Day Treatment program is an in-person and virtual substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program for individuals with mild to moderate addictions. The goal is to provide evidence and strength based, trauma informed care short-term care to support individuals on their recovery journey. This Mental Health Therapist position will support individuals with mild and moderate substance use disorders.

The intent is to allow individuals to receive more intensive services while living in their own homes. The approach while primarily group based will also provide individual psychotherapy. This position works from a client centered- strength based approach and works with clients and their families when appropriate to develop recovery plans to support clients on their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• A Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, Social Work or a designation permitting Registration in the province of Ontario with the appropriate regulatory College as recognized by the Psychotherapy Act with psychotherapy training including supervised practicum(s)
• Addictions Certificate training or willing to obtain
• Non-violent Crisis intervention training or willing to obtain
• First Aid/CPR
• Registered in good standing with the applicable regulatory College (i.e. OCSWSSW, CRPO)
• Class G driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract, and have own vehicle for use at work
• Experience in individual and group counselling
• Experience in providing hospital-based and/or community-based mental health and addictions counselling and case management services across a continuum of patient care
• Demonstrates knowledge and appreciation of First Nations Culture
• Ability to provide treatment in groups, in person, and virtually
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently
• Awareness of, and maintains good professional boundaries with demonstrated professional integrity
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of suicide risk assessment
• Non-judgmental approach
• Ability to foster and maintain relationships with other community partners
• Excellent assessment skills and demonstrates knowledge in the use of various counselling approaches
• Ability to enter data and maintain their own electronic client records
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Reliable attendance record
