Job description
Our client is seeking a hands-on General Accountant to join their growing manufacturing team in Waterloo. This is a contract-to-permanent opportunity.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of the full accounting cycle, and thrives in a small business environment while receiving support from an experienced corporate finance team.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis against budget and historical results
  • Process and maintain full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice entry, payment processing, and collections
  • Complete daily cash application, bank reporting, deposits, and month-end bank reconciliations
  • Monitor aged receivables and follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances
  • Process customer payments, including cheque, EFT, wire, and credit card transactions
  • Administer payroll for approximately 30 employees using ADP
  • Assist with benefits administration and payroll-related regulatory reporting
  • Prepare internal financial reports and daily operational metrics
  • Liaise with external accounting partners and support audit or reporting requirements as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a full-cycle accounting role
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Payroll experience is a strong asset but not required
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
