Job Description

This role involves assembling and installing multiple conveyor lines and a mezzanine within a large industrial facility. You work as part of a small team to build, align, and secure mechanical systems using hand and power tools, lifts, and other construction equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, comfort working at heights, and a commitment to working safely and precisely in a heavy-duty construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install conveyor lines and mezzanine structures according to drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to cut, fasten, align, and secure mechanical components with a high level of precision.
  • Work in small teams to plan tasks, coordinate activities, and complete installation work efficiently and safely.
  • Operate or work from scissor lifts and other access equipment to perform installations at height, following all safety procedures.
  • Support material handling and positioning of equipment, including working with forklifts where required and appropriately licensed.
  • Inspect completed assemblies for proper alignment, secure fastening, and overall quality, making adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and handling of tools and materials.
  • Follow all site safety rules, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout, fall protection, and other safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about progress, issues, and any potential hazards or delays.
  • Use measuring devices, levels, and squares to ensure accurate installation of mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues during installation and escalate more complex problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Transport, set up, and maintain personal tool kits to ensure readiness for daily tasks.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in conveyor installation, construction labour, millwright work, welding, or similar mechanical roles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and follow instructions for mechanical assembly and installation.
  • Demonstrated experience using a wide range of hand and power tools in a construction or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience working safely in heavy-duty or industrial construction settings.
  • Experience working at heights, including from platforms and lifts, while following appropriate safety practices.
  • Comfort working on an active construction site, including around heavy equipment and ongoing trades activities.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team, communicate effectively, and coordinate tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, including consistent use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, standing, and working in various positions for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with conveyor systems, mechanical assembly, or similar industrial installation work.
  • Forklift experience and licensing, with the expectation that approximately one in three workers on the team holds a forklift license.
  • Experience operating aerial work platforms (AWP), including boom lifts or scissor lifts, is a strong asset.
  • Certification to operate scissor lifts; all workers must be certified on scissor lifts prior to starting.
  • Exposure to mechanical controls or basic understanding of control components is an advantage.
  • Experience in millwrighting, welding, or related mechanical trades is considered beneficial.
  • Ability to bring and maintain a personal tool set meeting the specified minimum standard (., sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, levels, measuring tools).

Why Work Here?

You join a long-term project that offers consistent work and significant opportunities for overtime, with peak periods reaching up to 60 hours per week. High-performing team members may be considered for permanent opportunities or transition to future projects, providing continuity and career growth. You work in a professional, safety-focused environment that values reliability, skill development, and teamwork, giving you the chance to build your experience on large-scale industrial installations.

Work Environment

The work takes place inside a large industrial facility with an active construction environment. The typical schedule runs from approximately 06:30 to 16:30, Monday to Saturday, with the possibility of additional hours or schedule changes as project needs evolve. Work weeks can reach up to 60 hours, often structured as five 12-hour shifts. You may work on elevated platforms and mezzanines and will regularly use scissor lifts; some team members will operate forklifts in accordance with their certifications. The environment is heavy-duty and industrial, requiring consistent attention to safety and awareness of surrounding activities. Appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times, and you must follow all site safety procedures. You are expected to bring your own tools that meet the minimum standard, including a socket set (7/16" to 3/4"), wrench set (7/16" to 3/4"), screwdriver set, hammer, rubber mallet, 6" torpedo level, square, small pry bar, 10" and 12" adjustable wrenches, imperial measuring tape, Allen key set, and drift.
