Description:

PLIC54H3 - Speech Physiology and Speech Disorders in Children and Adults - Fall 2026

Course description: An introduction to the physics of sound and the physiology of speech perception and production for the purpose of assessing and treating speech disorders in children and adults. Topics will include acoustic, perceptual, kinematic, and aerodynamic methods of assessing speech disorders as well as current computer applications that facilitate assessment.

Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be:

Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $10,699.21
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21
Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $10,953.96
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.95
Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $11,228.90

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Speech Language Pathology or related area. Clinical experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech disorders in children and adults.

Experience teaching PLIC54H3 or equivalent.

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
