INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH SCIENCES
Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ hour.
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour.
Duties
Reporting to the Department Chair or Course Instructor, the duties and responsibilities of the Course Coordinator will bein accordance withArticle 22 of the Collective Agreement. These include overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course; coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them; assisting in the preparation of marking schemes and coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams; and any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor.
Qualifications
·A completed undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline is required.
·Previous course coordination experience (particularly with large courses in health sciences).
·Proficiency with online delivery tools (, Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (, Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
·Superior organizational, information-management, time-management and problem-solving skills.
·Highly developed communication skills with proven ability to accurately relay information among university faculty and staff, students, and service providers (, tech support).
·Ability to attend scheduled lectures and tests/examinations if required.
·Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support.
·Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.
