Position Description:

The CGI GTO Montreal Projects team manages network environments and services for internal and external clients across Canada and globally. This includes LAN/WAN connectivity, network security, unified communications, and cloud infrastructure hosted in CGI data centres.
We are looking for a Senior Network Designer with strong expertise in network security, cloud technologies, and automation to support complex infrastructure projects and drive modernization initiatives.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As part of a team of 20+ consultants within a broader network services organization, you will:
Partner with clients to understand requirements and define solutions
Translate business and technical needs into scalable network designs
Present and validate solutions with architecture governance teams
Design and analyze network infrastructures (LAN, WAN, security, wireless, IP telephony)
Develop detailed technical documentation (design diagrams, implementation plans)
Configure and deploy network and security solutions
Collaborate with architects, project managers, operations, and support teams
Monitor outcomes, evaluate performance, and continuously improve service delivery
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Top Skills (Priority)
Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, enterprise networking)
Palo Alto security solutions (including Prisma Access)
CI/CD pipelines & automation (DevOps, scripting, infrastructure-as-code)
Network security expertise (segmentation, DDoS protection, secure architectures)
Cloud networking – AWS and/or Azure
Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA) / SASE solutions
Core Technical Requirements
Strong experience with DNS, DHCP, IP networking, and internet services
Experience with F5 load balancers and network traffic management
Knowledge of BGP and routing protocols
Advanced Linux administration
Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible)
Understanding of containerization and NFV
Expertise in packet capture and network analysis
Experience & Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in large, complex network environments
Strong hands-on experience with LAN/WAN and telecommunications systems
Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.)
Proven experience designing enterprise and data center networks
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
Cloud-native network design (AWS, Azure, GCP)
SASE architecture experience
Knowledge of authentication protocols (RADIUS, TACACS+)
VPN technologies (IPSec, remote access solutions)
Industry certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, Cloud, Security)

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,–$,. This role is an existing vacancy.
