Who we need Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, we are hiring Laboratory Analysts to join our specialized Asbestos Lab team in Mississauga, ON.

This is an opportunity to build deep technical expertise in a highly specialized field.

Working within a close-knit, self-contained team of five, you will be at the heart of our asbestos analysis operation.

You will be receiving building material samples from clients, preparing and analyzing them under polarized light microscopy, and reporting findings that directly inform environmental and safety decisions.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at our Mississauga laboratory, expected to work on-site 5 days a week during standard business hours. What's in it for you Technical mastery in a specialized field.

Asbestos analysis is a distinct and in-demand skill.

You will receive comprehensive training in polarized light microscopy and asbestos identification, building expertise that is both rare and highly valued across environmental consulting, construction, and regulatory industries.

Global organization, local team.

You will have the stability and resources of a world leader with operations in 140 countries and nearly 400,000 clients, combined with the tight-knit culture of a small, specialized team where your contributions are visible and valued every day.

Meaningful work with real-world impact.

Every sample you analyze contributes to protecting people from asbestos exposure in buildings and construction sites.

Your work supports environmental safety decisions that matter to communities across Ontario and beyond.

Supportive team environment.

Your colleagues are collaborative, approachable, and invested in each other's success.

You will be set up for success from day one with structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship from experienced analysts.

How you will make an impact Analyze building material samples.

You will prepare and analyze bulk samples for asbestos content using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) and analyze air samples by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).

You will identify asbestos fibres, determine their optical properties, and report accurate percentage findings to clients.

Maintain accuracy and quality.

You will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) rigorously, perform quality control checks, and apply proper laboratory techniques to prevent mislabeling, sample mix-up, or cross-contamination.

Plan and organize daily work.

You will review LIMS summary reports to prioritize and manage your workload effectively, ensuring client turnaround time (TAT) requirements are consistently met.

Support laboratory operations.

You will perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, assist with supply ordering, and participate in internal and external audits to uphold our accreditation standards.

Contribute to the team.

You will identify non-routine samples and escalate appropriately, provide general lab support, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.

What you bring Education and/or experience.

A college diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience, one or more years in an analytical or scientific lab setting. Attention to detail and precision.

You take pride in accuracy.

Whether following a procedure, recording a result, or flagging an anomaly, you do not cut corners.

Your work is thorough and your documentation is reliable.

Comfort with focused, repetitive work.

A significant portion of your day will be spent at the microscope performing detailed analysis.

You are someone who finds satisfaction in that kind of methodical, precise work and can maintain concentration over long periods.

A collaborative, team-first attitude.

You work well in a small, close-knit team where everyone's contribution matters.

You are dependable, communicative, and willing to step in where needed.

Adaptability and a learning mindset.

You are a fast learner who picks up new techniques, procedures, and equipment quickly.

You are open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.

Assets.

Microscopy experience, particularly PLM or mineralogical microscopy, prior laboratory work, familiarity with LIMS, or knowledge of asbestos regulations in Ontario or other provinces.
