Our client, a leading Fortune 500 national retail enterprise, is seeking a seasoned, energetic, and highly articulate Scrum Master to support their high-velocity Data Engineering division.

In this critical agile coaching role, you will initially focus on facilitating a fast-paced enterprise IT Data Engineering squad, with the immediate expectation to scale your scope to a dual-team structure managing both Data Engineering and Data Science disciplines. Operating in a mature environment with 100% Agile adoption, you will act as the vital bridge between advanced technical teams and corporate business lines, managing complex dependencies, removing operational bottlenecks, and driving sprint delivery.

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2–3 days per week on-site at the corporate office)

Target Start Date: Within the next 2 weeks (Urgent Hire)

Role Focus: Pure Agile Delivery (No dual PM/SM responsibilities; seeking a pure Agile champion)

Responsibilities
Agile Ceremony Facilitation: Lead and optimize all core Scrum ceremonies—including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, and Retrospectives—ensuring absolute adherence to timeboxes and agile values.

Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as the central communication liaison between engineering management, software developers, data architects, and downstream business stakeholders to guarantee requirement alignment.

Blocker Removal & Delivery Drive: Actively remove technical and structural impediments. Take full accountability for pushing the engineering team toward their sprint commitments while pulling in necessary cross-functional infrastructure resources to clear roadblocks.

Dual-Team Scaling: Stabilize and drive performance for the initial Data Engineering squad, smoothly scaling your capability to govern a concurrent Data Science team in parallel.

Team Health & Performance: Foster a high-trust engineering culture rooted in continuous improvement, data-driven optimization, and absolute psychological safety.



Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of professional experience operating as a dedicated, pure Scrum Master within sophisticated corporate infrastructures.

Technical Domain Expertise: Proven, referenceable experience facilitating teams specifically within IT Data Engineering, Cloud Data Warehousing, or Data Analytics environments. Must be comfortable with fast-paced IT project lifecycles.

Methodological Certifications: Must hold active, industry-recognized Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., CSM, PSM II, or equivalent).

Agile Purity: Strong, proven history of thriving in environments with 100% full Agile framework adoption (not hybrid or modified waterfall).

Communication Style: Assertive, energetic, and highly articulate. Demonstrated ability to naturally navigate the push-and-pull dynamics of managing technical engineers while setting clear expectations for corporate business partners.

Nice-to-Have Skills & Assets
Retail Industry Landscape: Prior experience working within a large-scale enterprise retail or e-commerce ecosystem (understanding retail metrics, supply chain data structures, or merchandising flows) is a significant asset.
