Job description
Position: Student Services ConsultantLocation: Area 1 Office – Thompson, MBStart Date: September 8, 2026FTE: 1.00 FTE Term of Employment: PermanentApplication Deadline: Friday, August 14, 2026 ABOUT THE POSITIONReporting to the Area Superintendent, the Student Services Consultant works in collaboration with school staff to advance student achievement through the implementation of curriculum and support intervention programs. WHAT YOU BRINGValid Manitoba teaching certificate and a Special Education degree/certificateMaster's in Education in Special EducationRelevant resource teacher and classroom experienceSound knowledge of Provincial curricular outcomes, instructional strategies, resources and assessmentsKnowledge of various disabilities and programming to meet needsDemonstrated knowledge and experience in working with students with special needsKnowledge of various resource-based assessment toolsProven resource development and implementation skillsAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively as well as independentlyDemonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of Indigenous Way of LifeDemonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learningValid Manitoba Driver's License and ability to travel extensively throughout the Area WHAT YOU'LL DOProvide guidance and support to administrators, resource teachers and classroom teachers to ensure the implementation of appropriate educational programming including individualized programming and assistive technology to meet the students' needsParticipate in the development and implementation of the Division's strategic plan and school plansProvide leadership in the development and implementation of instructional resources, instructional strategies and assessment of students with special needs including preparing applications for categorical fundingLiaising, scheduling and directing of the services of outside agencies, including school psychologist, speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and other cliniciansDevelop and deliver workshops to support teacher professional development Support administrators in assisting teachers with individual education plansSupport administrators and teachers with the identification and development of professional learning initiatives including leading divisional initiatives and teams as appropriateOther related responsibilities as assigned.
