We are searching for an Immigration Assistant to join our Immigration team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

• Provide professional, confidential administrative support to the Shannex Immigration team
• Assists the Immigration Consultants with the collection of required documentation in preparation for the newcomer’s application to the appropriate immigration stream
• Collects the required information and documentation from newcomer employees for immigration applications and processes
• Assists with the drafting of immigration applications, as well as edit and finalize, as required
• Implements and manages administrative processes in support of our foreign workers and resolves administrative issues and concerns
• Tracks, arranges and monitors couriers
• Completes bi-weekly immigration file audit
• Reviews, organizes, and manages confidential documentation
• Tracks foreign workers on implied status and escalates to Lead Immigration Consultant as necessary
• Maintains (electronic and paper) foreign worker documents and file retrieval.
• Tracks government application fees and other immigration related expenses
• Maintain and manage comprehensive immigration files
• Manage confidential documentation and communication
• Performs additional related duties as required

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

• A relevant post-secondary education
• Minimum two years of experience in a related field
• A keen eye for detail, are known for your high standards and are meticulous with your work and adhere to process standards
• Experience working in a Human Resources or Immigration department considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
• Basic knowledge of immigration processes and foreign worker programs
• Previous experience working in immigration, as a paralegal or in a regulatory environment with a focus on the Atlantic Immigration Program, Nova Scotia Nominee Program and/or the New Brunswick Nominee Program is preferred
