ABOUT THE POSITION
The Waterand Wilderness Officer will support EACs Coastal Program Manager and Senior Wilderness Outreach Officer will help roll outa nature-basedclimatesolutions projectwith partners audit theprocessesand create a toolkit and organize a knowledge sharing workshop. Additionally the Officer will support theWilderness team with a variety of research projects and outreach tasks related to parks & protected areas and mining resistance.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting research and gathering data to contribute tothe coastaland wilderness programs.
Analyzing governmentpoliciesand regulations related to water and wilderness issues.
Assistingin planning and delivering events webinars and meetings related to water and wilderness.
Engage and support volunteers.
Supporting project administration duties such as funder reporting and grant proposals.
Assistingwith facilitation stakeholder consultation and public educationas needed.
In cooperation with the Communications Team researching and writing internal- and external-facing communicationsincludingweb content social media posts and magazine updates and developing campaign materials and graphics for onlineand printuse.
Other duties asrequired.
WHAT YOU BRING
At least1-2 years of experience conductingresearch reviewing literature andwritingreports.
Knowledgeable about water coastal and wilderness issues.
Strong communicationsskills both oral and written.
Proven ability to analyze governmentpoliciesand gather data.
Experience in event planning.
Demonstrated ability to work independently andeffectivelyallocatetime tocomplete importantproductive tasks.
Strong organizational and priority settings skills.
Thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Project administrationskillstoassistfunder reporting grant proposals and report writing.
Strong workethicand motivation to work on water and wilderness issues.
Computer literacy in MS Office 365 (including Outlook SharePoint Word Excel and PowerPoint) and web-based platforms.
Available to work on the occasional evening / weekends; willing to travel; valid drivers license
Other skills and experience considered an asset:
Experience working on water and wilderness programs and policy.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
Experience working with governments on policy matters.
Experience working and/or volunteering in a non-profit organization.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time; 4-day 30hrwork week Monday - Thursday with some flexibility in the workday.Find out more about our 4-day work week here
Remuneration:$29.40
34-week Contract
10 paid wellness day per year pro-rated to contract
Hybrid work environment requiring 1-2 days a week at our office in Halifaxs North End.
