Operations Supervisor

Huntsman is seeking an Operations Supervisor supporting Huntsman Building Solutions located in Mississauga Canada. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

Job Scope

Ensuring that the facility is operated safely and effectively and following established standard work to ensure the highest quality product is provided to our customers.

You will be responsible for leading your team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the production facility. You will set up and monitor the production of products and warehousing at the site and participate in the continuous improvement process to address safety production and quality improvements.

In summary as the Operations Supervisor you will:

• Supervise coordinate and schedule the activities of Production Quality Control and Shipping & Receiving personnel
• Assign production tasks based on production needs and employee capabilities
• Manage and motivate the production team including training new hires and evaluating performance
• Develop and implement efficient operating procedures for the plant
• Ensure production schedules are achieved efficiently
• Ensure raw materials are adequate to meet the production schedule
• Drive a Lean culture in the production area

Safety and compliance:

• Ensure the production process complies with all safety regulations and company policies
• Identify investigate and correct potential environmental and safety problems
• Ensure proper management of waste and residual materials

Quality and efficiency:

• Monitor production activities to ensure quality standards are met
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and take appropriate action to resolve issues
• Monitor inventory levels and order necessary materials and supplies

Reporting and planning:

• Collect data and compile reports on production activities and challenges

• Provide information for maintenance plans and help manage the operating budget

• Apply a hands-on approach to assist the production team in meeting and exceeding the required demand for site output

Compliance:

• Ensure the team follows all company policies safety regulations and professional standards

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Canada.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a production supervisor or in a similar role
• Strong leadership organizational and motivational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of manufacturing machinery and equipment computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP (SAP) systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• A high school diploma is typically required; a degree in a technical engineering or relevant field is a plus
• Experience in a production or manufacturing setting is essential
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 systems
• Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma is advantageous

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
