As the Nursing Unit Manager of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) you will be responsible for providing strong clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of a high-performing evidence-based safe and effective service.
The Nursing Unit Manager is accountable for the efficient and effective management of the ICU including the maintenance of clinical standards workforce coordination and resource management. The role also ensures the integration and alignment of nursing practice within the broader framework of Calvary Mater Newcastle supporting organisational priorities and quality patient outcomes.

Position available: Permanent Full-Time
Salary Classification: Nursing Unit Manager Level 2
Remuneration: $73.85per hour super annual leave loading
Selection criteria (Essential)
- Registered Nurse with current authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant postgraduate qualification in management or leadership or demonstrated progress towards completion.
- Demonstrated recent clinical and/or leadership experience in an acute care setting with the ability to perform effectively in high-demand environments.
- Proven leadership capability including the ability to motivate develop and support staff lead change initiatives and foster a positive high-performing team culture within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Highly developed communication interpersonal negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the capacity to effectively engage and influence key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage human and financial resources including rostering workforce planning monitoring budget performance and supporting safe and efficient service delivery.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centred care clinical governance quality improvement and evidence-based practice including the ability to initiate support and sustain service improvements.
