PURPOSE
The Gwichin Tribal Council is seeking two motivatedand reliable individuals to support the Early Learning Department in conductingan Early Learning Survey throughout the Gwichin Settlement Area (GSA). Workingalongside the Early Learning team the successful candidates will assist withcommunity engagement activities collect survey information from beneficiariesand support data collection efforts that will help inform future Early Learningprogramming and services.
This position offers valuable experience in communityengagement data collection public relations and Indigenous programdevelopment. Successful candidates must be comfortable working independentlytravelling to remote communities and interacting with beneficiaries in bothindividual and community settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Early Learning team in conducting EarlyLearning Surveys throughout the Gwichin Settlement Area.
Travel with departmental staff to GSA communities during scheduled communityengagement activities.
Support presentations and information-sharing sessions regarding theIndigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) Framework and QualityImprovement Plan (QIP) initiatives.
Conduct surveys with beneficiaries in person and over the telephone.
Independently follow up with beneficiaries to maximize survey participation.
Maintain accurate and confidential survey records.
Enter and organize survey data as required.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with community members andstakeholders.
Assist with logistical planning and coordination related to community visits.
Prepare reports and summaries as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a current student or eligible for summerstudent employment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable engaging with community members in a respectful and culturallyappropriate manner.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the GwichinSettlement Area.
Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of Gwichin communities culture and traditions is considered anasset.
Previous experience conducting surveys community outreach or customerservice is considered an asset.
First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent travel to Gwichin communities.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Independent work in community settings and beneficiaries homes.
Travel by air and vehicle throughout the Gwichin Settlement Area.
