Job description

Toronto Pearson is transforming. Now’s the time for your career to fly.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is a unique and dynamic place to work, with a bold plan to make Toronto Pearson, Canada’s leading global hub airport, a global leader in airport performance, customer care and sustainability. Together with our partners, approximately 2,100 GTAA employees are working to create a next-generation airport by innovating in all we do and striving for the most uplifting, safe and efficient experience for our passengers – all while championing the prosperity of our people, the community we call home, and our aviation partners. Join us on our journey together, as we put the joy back into travel and make Toronto Pearson the chosen place to fly and work.

What's in it for you?

  • An opportunity to grow, develop, and thrive within a dynamic, and fast-growing company alongside thoughtful and passionate individuals dedicated to their work and community.
  • Comprehensive benefits, including a flexible retirement program with employer matching, along with voluntary savings options (RRSP, TFSA, and Non-Registered Savings Plans).
  • A flexible work environment, continuous internal and external learning opportunities, and a meaningful reward and recognition program.

What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Director, Deicing Operations, the Manager, Deicing Fleet & Facilities Maintenance is a key leadership role accountable for the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of all assets at Toronto Pearson’s Central Deicing Facility (CDF). This role oversees the preventative maintenance and repair of specialized deicing vehicles, light- and heavy-duty equipment, and critical facility infrastructure, with a strong focus on innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement. As a key operational stakeholder, the Manager collaborates closely with project teams on facility construction, rehabilitation, and expansion initiatives, ensuring seamless business continuity and full operational readiness throughout asset upgrades.

The role leads the coordination of maintenance activities across internal teams and external contractors, ensuring full compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards. Accountable for maintenance budgets, the Manager also drives workforce planning, training, and development, while leading emergency response planning for critical equipment failures. Leveraging a data-driven and solution-oriented approach, the Manager monitors asset performance, identifies opportunities for operational enhancement, and provides regular insights to support GTAA’s world-class winter operations.

As Manager, Deicing Fleet & Facilities Maintenance, you will:

  • Lead the planning, organization, and direction of maintenance operations to ensure optimal performance of GTAA’s Central Deicing Facility (CDF), maximizing efficiency across personnel, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of the deicing fleet and assets, including lifecycle and utilization analysis to determine optimal fleet size, replacement cycles, and capital planning.
  • Develop and manage a proactive, risk-based preventative maintenance program for all CDF assets, including specialized deicing equipment, vehicles, and facility systems.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through maintenance of environmental systems such as bulk oil tanks, waste storage, and oil-water separators.
  • Use data and analytics to drive operational decision-making, identify maintenance trends, and inform both short- and long-term strategy.
  • Serve as the primary operational subject matter expert (SME) for facility capital planning, providing tactical input during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of infrastructure rehabilitation and capacity expansion projects.
  • Develop and execute operational readiness and contingency plans during active construction to ensure uninterrupted business continuity and protect live winter operations from disruption.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, aligning maintenance activities with GTAA’s strategic priorities and ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Lead vendor and supplier relationships for parts, inventory, and contracted maintenance services, ensuring service quality and accountability.
  • Foster a high-performance team culture by providing training, coaching, and ongoing feedback to support professional development and team success.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging creative problem-solving and adopting industry-leading maintenance technologies and practices.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers to ensure alignment, trust, and seamless operational delivery.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • A post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Fleet and Facility Management and Equipment Maintenance including heavy equipment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • Strong focus on data/metrics, including a solid knowledge of Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements to achieve compliance.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound, data-driven decisions that align with long-term strategic goals and improve operational performance.
  • Proven track record as an operational stakeholder on large-scale infrastructure, expansion, and asset modernization projects.
  • Strong ability to mitigate operational risk, sustain business continuity, and ensure full operational readiness throughout complex construction and maintenance activities.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including the ability to manage complex maintenance programs, optimize fleet availability, and use Microsoft tools to support planning and reporting.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License and Airside Driver’s Vehicle Operator Permit (‘D/A’ AVOP).
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.

The GTAA is committed to Employment Equity and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

This position is exempt from Ontario's 2026 pay transparency requirements under Regulation 476/24.
