Built through meaningful collaboration and informed by research and assessment, our campus‑ and community‑based programs, services and resources promote access to post‑secondary education, support transition into and retention through university and encourage student engagement and community‑engaged learning. With over 90 opportunities led by 140 student leaders and professional staff, the Centre for Student Engagement believes that student involvement is a powerful tool to support an individual’s navigation of the post‑secondary environment and to feel empowered to contribute and make an impact within their community.The New Student Programmer, supported by the Supervisor, Pre‑Arrival Engagement will be responsible for the delivery of co‑curricular events focused on academic support and engagement on campus for new‑to‑UTM students. The main responsibilities of this portfolio include programming for UTM Orientation, off‑campus students, and faculty engagement. Additionally, this portfolio will support additional outreach events and immersive opportunities to build a culture of engagement and academic support for UTM students.Please note this Term role ends April 30, 2027.Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position requires four (4) days per week on site.Your responsibilities will includeDetermining logistical details and activities for events and/or programmingLiaising with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirementsFostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contactsConducting post‑event evaluation, analysis and recommendations for changesTraining and coaching CSE student‑staff and student leadersEssential QualificationsBachelor's Degree required or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum three years of experience in related event planning and execution, preferably in a post‑secondary environment.Demonstrated experience planning and executing student‑focused events with multiple stakeholders.Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and public speaking skills.Strong administrative skills, including word processing, data analysis, desktop publishing and experience with databases.Proven leadership and supervisory skills are required.Experience designing surveys, interviews and other research tools for program evaluation.Knowledge of anti‑oppression/equity practices are required.Experience with digital engagement resources, databases and other administrative tools.Assets (Nonessential)Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and information communication standards of practice in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).Thorough knowledge of the University’s procedures as they relate to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA) and management of confidential student information.To be successful in this role you will beAdaptableOrganizedResourcefulTeam playerClosing Date:06/26/2026, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group:USWAppointment Type : Budget - TermSchedule:Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band 10 -- $72,119, with an annual step progression to a maximum of $92,226.
