Director, Finance
Are you the kind of finance leader who can walk into a business, quickly understand how money actually flows through it, and spot both the risks and the opportunities?
This role is for someone who enjoys connecting strategy to reality who can move between high-level financial planning and the operational details that make it work. You’ll play a key leadership role in shaping financial outcomes, building strong controls, and helping the business make smarter decisions with confidence.
This role will not be a fit if you prefer to stay behind the numbers, avoid challenging conversations, or want a purely strategic role without the hands-on accountability that comes with owning financial operations end to end. We’re looking for someone who is both strategic and operational, and who is comfortable leaning into complexity and responsibility.
Here’s The Deal:
- This is a full-time, onsite, permanent leadership role based in Halifax.
- You will report directly to the President and be responsible for leading the day-to-day finance function, ensuring strong financial controls, and supporting business operations across the organization.
- You’ll work closely with executive leadership and operations teams to provide financial insight, forecasting, and decision support that drives business performance.
- You’ll lead and develop our finance team of three people and ensure continuity, accountability, and growth across the function.
- Salary will be aligned with experience and is expected to fall within our established leadership range.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and projections to support strategic decisions
- Deliver accurate financial reporting, statements, and insights
- Maintain strong financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance
- Manage cash flow, including receivables, payables, and payroll
- Support contract terms, pricing models, and billing accuracy
- Develop financial models to support growth and transformation
- Act as a trusted advisor, enabling better business decisions
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring accountability and capability
- Support operational functions such as facilities, compliance, and administrative oversight where required
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- CPA designation (required)
- 5+ years’ experience in progressive finance roles
- Hands-on experience for full-cycle accounting, month-end, financial statements, note disclosure.
- Experience owning budgeting, forecasting, rolling projections, capital planning, wage and compensation analysis.
- Experience with cash management/working capital, AR/AP optimization, payroll oversight.
- Success implementing or managing financial controls, audit programs, purchasing frameworks, compliance requirements.
- Negotiating and supporting commercial contracts.
- Experience presenting financial results and outcomes to management groups.
- Advanced excel and experience with financial modeling tools, BI experience ie Power BI, Tableau, Quicksight.
- ERP and core finance accounting systems experience such as Great Plains/ Dynamics GP/UKG.
- Experience with BPO and/or professional services considered an asset.
