Job descriptionFull-Stack Software Engineer PagerDuty is a leader in Digital Operations Management. We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer to work on our scheduling platform, a core piece of our business that helps organizations distribute on-call responsibilities across teams. In this role, you’ll architect and build a suite of highly available services, scalable databases and reliable data streams while pioneering development practices that leverage AI as a first‑class engineering partner. You will also partner with product and design teams on shaping new products and features for our customers. The ideal candidate will have full‑stack experience with Java and React and will promote engineering excellence principles across design, development, test, and release cycles.
We expect you to design, code, test and ship secure, highly reliable and scalable backend applications, micro‑services, APIs or front‑end interfaces, collaborate closely with engineers across teams, solve technical challenges for 20,000+ global customers, and participate in your team’s on‑call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
Design, code, test and ship backend applications or micro‑services, APIs or front‑end interfaces that are secure, highly reliable and scalable.
Collaborate closely with engineers across teams.
Solve technical challenges for 20,000+ global customers and scale our product to keep up with demand.
Participate in the team’s on‑call rotation, triage and address production issues as they arise.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience designing, building and operating large systems with scalability, availability and performance requirements.
Development experience working on customer‑facing and web‑based systems.
Demonstrated experience with Java/Python, React and AI coding tools.
Experience building or working on a customer‑facing product.
Preferred Qualifications
Operational experience in cloud technologies such as AWS.
Operational experience with databases & tools (e.g. MySQL, Aurora, Kafka, NoSQL, applying software engineering principles to data problems).
Experience building user‑facing public APIs.
Experience designing and implementing distributed and highly available systems.
The base salary range for this position is 115,000 - 165,000 CAD.
This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
