Director of Finance

Our client is a highly regarded and continually growing research-based group in Prince Edward Island. As they advance continued growth they are seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to join the senior leadership team.

This role supports executive decision-making, strengthens organizational financial capacity, and ensures long‑term sustainability as the organization expands in complexity and scale. The successful candidate will bring strong financial leadership, analytical capability, and operational insight, with a particular focus on supporting growth, commercialization, and pricing strategy for research services.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and annual financial planning processes
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic and operational decision‑making
• Develop financial models, scenario analysis, and project costing
• Oversee cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and treasury management
• Manage banking relationships and support financing strategies and investor reporting
• Present financial results and insights to the Board of Directors
• Develop and maintain pricing models
• Support proposal development with financial analysis and revenue projections
• Oversee procurement and inventory management
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and controls
• Lead audit processes and liaise with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements
• Optimize ERP and financial systems and improve financial reporting tools

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• CPA designation with minimum 5 years post‑designation experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting standards, audit, and tax compliance
• Experience with pricing models in contract services, research, manufacturing, or project‑based environments
• Experience in regulated, grant‑funded, or audit‑intensive environments considered an asset
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills with ability to communicate insights clearly
• Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage complexity and competing priorities
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills
• Results‑driven with a continuous improvement mindset
