What you’ll be doing

The US Chief Administration Office and Technology, Data, and AI (US CAO + TDAI) business is at the forefront of innovation and operational excellence, encompassing Technology, Information Security, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Payment Operations, Data Management Office, Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Security, Procurement, Operational Resilience, and Governance & Oversight. Our mission is to drive transformation and enable growth by delivering world-class technology and operational solutions that support the bank’s strategic objectives.

The US Governance and Oversight (US G&O) team within US CAO & TDAI operates as a First Line team in the Three Lines of Defense model, enabling risk discipline, business resiliency, and value creation while strengthening CIBC’s Risk Management Framework.

As the Sr. Consultant, US Regulatory and Audit Management, you will play a pivotal role in managing US CAO & TDAI’s regulatory activities and advancing the maturity of our US Regulatory and Audit Management Programs. You are a seasoned expert responsible for providing specialized consultation to ensure ongoing regulatory and audit oversight.

How you’ll succeed

  • Leading and coordinating regulatory and audit activities: Oversee and manage regulatory requests for information, regulatory and audit examinations, special projects, and ad-hoc deliverables. Ensure regulatory engagements are tracked, coordinated, and completed efficiently, with a focus on quality and timeliness.

  • Managing multiple, complex priorities in a fast-paced environment: Simultaneously handle numerous initiatives and deadlines, adapting to ambiguity and shifting priorities. Proactively identify potential issues, escalate concerns, and drive timely resolution to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

  • Collaborating with partners across all levels and geographies: Work closely with internal stakeholders in Canada and the US, across all three lines of defense, at various levels of seniority. Facilitate cross-functional coordination to ensure regulatory and audit responses are complete, accurate, and reflect a holistic view of the organization.

  • Delivering high-quality submissions, reports, and presentations: Prepare clear, concise, and impactful documentation for executive management, regulators, and other stakeholders. Ensure all materials meet regulatory and audit standards and internal expectations for quality and accuracy.

  • Advising stakeholders on risk management and regulatory expectations: Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on regulatory and audit requirements, emerging trends, and industry best practices. Offer insights to help business partners anticipate and respond to regulatory and audit requests.

  • Driving continuous improvement through technology and innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance the Regulatory and Audit Management Programs by leveraging new technologies, automation, and AI tools. Streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve overall program effectiveness.

  • Supporting teams with training, consultation, and tools: Develop and deliver training sessions, provide expert consultation, and equip teams with resources to manage regulatory and audit requirements effectively. Foster a culture of regulatory and audit awareness and accountability.

  • Monitoring and reporting on regulatory and audit activities and trends: Track developments, analyze trends, and provide regular updates to senior leadership. Ensure timely escalation of issues and provide recommendations for action as needed.

  • Ensuring compliance and effective management of deficiencies: Oversee the remediation of regulatory and audit issues, ensuring all deficiencies are addressed efficiently and in accordance with regulatory, legislative, and operational requirements and standards.

  • Operating with minimal direction and extensive risk management expertise: Use your deep knowledge of risk management principles and multi-segment risk management to lead complex initiatives.

  • Exercising considerable judgement and leading complex initiatives: Make decisions on complex issues impacting multiple stakeholders, systems, or processes. Lead initiatives that require strategic thinking and coordination across the organization.

  • Navigating ambiguity and assessing materiality of risks: Operate effectively in ambiguous situations, analyzing and assessing the materiality of risks, developing mitigation plans, and remaining accountable to broadly defined objectives.

Who you are

  • You’re an experienced risk professional with 5+ years of experience in financial services, with a background in Compliance, Risk Management, Project Delivery and/ or Internal Audit. You possess deep knowledge of regulatory principles, practices, and policies relevant to the financial industry.

  • You’re an exceptional communicator and critical thinker: You excel at analyzing complex problems, distilling information, and communicating detailed findings to diverse audiences. Your written and verbal communication skills are outstanding and tailored for executive and regulatory stakeholders. You produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate a command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation.

  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

  • You’re technologically savvy: You understand the intersection of technology and risk, with knowledge of technology and cybersecurity considered a strong asset.

  • You’re an innovative problem solver: You approach challenges creatively, generate new ideas, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver practical solutions.

  • You have a continuous improvement mindset: You thrive in dynamic environments, embrace change, and are committed to continuous improvement and learning to stay at the forefront of innovation.

  • You're driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You are a collaborative leader who can influence without authority, work effectively across cross-functional teams, and build constructive relationships based on trust and authenticity.

  • You are a caring and accountable: You have experience supporting diverse, high performing teams, and driving collective success through collaboration and inclusion.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
