72 Who We Are
Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.
SFU Campus Services is a dynamic, revenue-generating division that operates like a business with a community purpose — delivering essential services to students, faculty, staff, and the broader SFU community across three campuses. Our integrated Bookstore, Document Solutions, and related services teams are collaborative, service-driven, and entrepreneurial, constantly looking for smarter ways to operate and better ways to serve. We're a group that values innovation, takes ownership, and finds genuine satisfaction in making campus life work better. If you thrive in an environment that blends operational rigour with creative problem-solving, you'll fit right in.
About the Role
The Client Relationship Coordinator is the face of SFU's integrated Bookstore and Document Solutions unit — the person university departments, student groups, faculty, and external clients turn to when they need print production, branded merchandise, or promotional materials done right. This role is less about order-taking and more about consulting: understanding what a client actually needs, knowing which combination of services will solve it, and making it happen. You'll own relationships from first conversation to final delivery, conducting on-site visits across campus, preparing proposals, coordinating with production and design colleagues, and actively seeking new business opportunities. If you're energized by variety, take pride in getting the details right, and genuinely enjoy building client relationships, this role offers real autonomy and a tangible impact on the SFU community every day.
You're a natural relationship-builder with a commercial mindset — someone who listens carefully, asks the right questions, and figures out how to make things work for clients even when the answer isn't obvious. You have enough print production knowledge to speak credibly with clients and enough sales instinct to spot an opportunity and follow it through. You're organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing several projects at once without losing track of the details. Above all, you're the kind of person who takes ownership: if a client has a problem, you don't pass it on — you solve it.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline, combined with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in client relations, sales, account management, or a related field within a service or retail environment, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a print production environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Excellent knowledge of print production processes, pre-press requirements, digital printing technologies, finishing options, and Document Solutions service capabilities.
- Excellent knowledge of client relationship management and sales development principles, including needs assessment, proposal development, and account management.
- Advanced interpersonal and client relations skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with a diverse range of internal and external clients.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent client projects, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to identify client needs, assess options across print production and merchandise offerings, and develop practical, creative solutions within budget and timeline constraints.
