SAP Data Migration Analyst

Our Calgary based client is seeking an experienced SAP Data Migration Analyst to join their project immediately and will run for 1 year with possibility of an extension. The ideal candidate should have 3–7 years of experience in data analysis or migration roles within SAP or ERP transformation programs, preferably with ECC to S/4HANA projects. Hands-on expertise with SAP BODS or equivalent ETL tools is essential, along with a strong command of end-to-end migration concepts profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation. Should also be familiar with SAP ECC and S/4HANA data structures and master data objects, with a proven ability to execute mock cycles, manage defects and exception reports, and drive data quality issues to resolution. Skilled in producing reconciliation reports to support go/no-go readiness and proficient in advanced Excel for analyzing large datasets. This will be a hybrid role with the exact amount of on-site scheduled days to be confirmed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze migration results and manage data defects and exceptions through to resolution, reducing rework by identifying issues early and applying effective cleansing, mapping updates, or technical fixes.
• Maintain and update data migration artifacts, including source-to-target mappings, data validation and transformation rules, and data object documentation (object info, attributes, dependencies).
• Support and execute data migration mock cycles (Mock 1, Mock 2, etc.) to deliver migration-ready, high-quality, validated, and reconciled data.
• Analyze source system data to assess completeness, accuracy, and readiness for migration to SAP S/4HANA.
• Support end-to-end data migration activities from SAP ECC and other legacy source systems.
• Develop a strong understanding of business process data sets across ECC, S/4HANA, and integrated systems.
• Produce, review, and validate data quality reports, exception reports, and reconciliation and validation results.
• Support go/no-go data readiness assessments for migration milestones.
• Collaborate closely with Data Stewards to review data cleansing outcomes and support hands-on data cleanup activities as required.
• Identify recurring data quality issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and remediation planning.
• Provide oversight and testing for data migration objects in SAP BODS.
• Assist Technical Data Analysts with ETL development, troubleshooting, and unit testing.
• Support data extraction, transformation, and load processes for migration and test cycles.
• Partner with SAP functional teams to define data requirements and validate business data object mappings to business processes.
• Ensure data requirements and mappings accurately support future-state business processes.
• Develop dashboards and data analysis using Power BI to provide clear visibility into data quality and readiness.
• Deliver reporting and insights to support migration progress tracking, data quality trends, defect resolution, and readiness monitoring.
• Work closely with the System Integrator to review and validate data profiling results, verify migration loads and reconciliation outcomes.
• Support joint troubleshooting and alignment on data migration issues and resolutions.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA or ECC to S/4HANA data migration projects.
• Hands-on experience with SAP BODS for ETL and migration object development.
• Experience executing data migration mock cycles, including defect triage, re-runs, and stabilization.
• Familiarity with source-to-target mapping, transformation rules, and data validation frameworks.
• Experience producing and analyzing data quality, exception, and reconciliation reports.
• Exposure to SAP master data objects (e.g., Customer, Vendor, Material, Finance).
• Experience working in large ERP transformation programs or regulated environments (energy, finance, utilities).
• Familiarity with migration tools such as SAP Migration Cockpit or MDG (asset)
