We have several projects in Alberta that require a Senior Construction Contract Administrator to join our award-winning team.

As a Senior Construction Contract Administrator, you will work as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team delivering complex projects in Alberta. You will coordinate and administer the construction phase from contract award through construction, turnover, closeout, and the warranty period on complex, fast-paced projects. On some projects, the Senior CA may also be engaged during preconstruction to review drawings and work with the Construction Manager or other construction-focused professionals to identify and address issues early in the process.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Interpreting contract documents and supporting compliance with contract requirements.

  • Monitoring and verifying construction progress on site. Travel to project sites will be required and may, at times, involve consecutive days on site.

  • Liaising with clients, project managers, subconsultants, and architects to help move construction-phase deliverables forward.

  • Preparing, coordinating, and processing change documents.

  • Reviewing shop drawings and other contractor submittals.

  • Reviewing, tracking, and coordinating responses to contractor RFIs and submittals.

  • Coordinating Site Instructions, Change Directives, Contemplated Change Notices, and Change Orders.

  • Assessing and making recommendations regarding contract amendments.

  • Reviewing contractor progress payment applications and preparing payment certificates.

  • Evaluating contractor submissions related to changes and claims.

  • Processing contract closeout documentation.

  • Chairing construction meetings and preparing meeting minutes or summaries.

  • Preparing reports, correspondence, and other documentation related to areas of responsibility.

  • Leading contract administration activities on large or complex projects.

  • Mentoring and overseeing junior and intermediate contract administrators.

  • Acting as a primary contract liaison with clients and contractors.

  • Supporting project leadership, including the Project Manager and Design Lead, in construction-phase decision-making.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong knowledge of procurement and contracting principles, methods, procedures, and practices, including construction contract administration and change management.

  • Ability to lead cross-discipline construction contract administration teams in support of coordinated project delivery during the construction phase.

  • Ability to lead the evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of complex change claims, disputes, and delay impacts.

  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering principles, applicable legislation, standards, and scheduling practices.

  • Sound judgment and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and project deadlines.

  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish project objectives.

  • Working knowledge of personal computers, mobile devices, and applications relevant to the role, including Newforma Project Center, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an Architectural Technology program, or equivalent experience, is preferred, along with a minimum of 10 years in architectural contract administration.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary construction contract administration teams on large projects.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in architectural contract administration and construction-phase project delivery preferred.

  • Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) designation would be considered an asset.

  • Candidates must be eligible to undergo security screening, which may include background checks, identity verification, and disclosure of personal history in accordance with Government of Canada security screening requirements.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
