Job description
Do you want to propel your engineering career forward within a premier Quebec contractor that shapes the urban landscape in a tangible way? Are you ready to leave behind the theoretical constraints of traditional consulting firms to see your designs come to life directly on the field? Imagine a stimulating career where your technical innovation in mechanical systems translates immediately into concrete solutions on the construction site. If you possess that inner drive, a fast-paced energy, and the desire to tackle exciting daily challenges, the role of mechanical building systems designer is the perfect opportunity for you to step out of the consulting office and jump into the action.

In short, this mechanical building systems designer position within an organization dedicated to large-scale specialized construction consists of leading the detailed engineering of complex ventilation and air treatment networks. As a mechanical building systems designer, you will transform initial concepts into precise execution drawings, ensuring a seamless transition between the drafting table and the reality of the field.

Advantages
Joining our reputable specialized construction firm in Laval means choosing stability, high performance, and a human-centric workplace. Here is the comprehensive list of everything we offer for this position:

Premium compensation: A highly competitive annual salary between $90,000 and $140,000, established fairly based on your engineering expertise.

Time flexibility: A standard 40-hour work week with flexible scheduling arrangements to easily balance your personal obligations and your office life in Laval.

Hybrid model: An optimized work-life balance thanks to a flexible remote work policy paired with collaborative team days at our office.

Complete protection: Immediate access to a comprehensive group insurance plan covering all your health, medical, and family needs.

Generous vacation: A minimum of 4 weeks of annual vacation modeled on the construction industry calendar, with openness to discussion based on your professional background.

Entrepreneurial culture: A dynamic work environment driven by teamwork, transparency, quick decision-making, and direct communication with key stakeholders.

Cutting-edge tools: Grow within an organization undergoing a full digital transformation, utilizing the latest generation of modeling and thermal calculation software.

On-site amenities: Free reserved parking available at all times for our employees at our main headquarters based in Laval.

Responsibilities
To give you a clear and simple picture of your daily routine, your tasks will consist of:

Taking full charge of the detailed design of complex ventilation systems and air distribution networks.

Performing thermal load calculations and determining the precise sizing of mechanical equipment.

Developing clear technical execution plans and schematic diagrams for the installation crews.

Analyzing design criteria to propose intelligent energy efficiency and technical optimization solutions.

Ensuring smooth technical coordination with draftsmen, project managers, and equipment suppliers.

Providing occasional technical support to field teams during the system installation phases.

Qualifications
To succeed and thrive in this stimulating challenge, we are looking for an accessible profile that meets the following straightforward criteria:

Education: Hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or construction engineering.

Accreditation: Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) with the professional engineer title.

Ideal background: Possess 3 to 7 years of relevant design experience. We are specifically targeting a professional coming from a consulting engineering firm who has the drive, adaptability, and desire to transition toward a specialized contractor environment.

Ventilation design expertise: Demonstrate a solid track record in calculating and designing commercial, institutional, or industrial ventilation networks.

Work tools: Be comfortable with standard office software and common building modeling tools.

Mindset: Show a strong capacity for autonomous focus while demonstrating a natural inclination for teamwork and practical problem-solving.

Summary
Does this unique career opportunity as a mechanical building systems designer within a stimulating and well-structured specialized contractor environment align with your professional goals? If you have the energy and drive to make the leap from consulting to hands-on action, we want to meet you.
