PARKS AND FACILITIES OPERATOR

The Parks and Facilities team is seeking a Parks and Facilities Operator reporting directly to the Parks & Facilities Manager. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Pembina Place Arena, Cultural Centre, lounge, other town-owned facilities as well as parks and green spaces. This position ensures the arena ice surface as well as the other facilities remain clean, safe and well maintained for all users and visitors. The role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to providing excellent customer service, and solid mechanical and building maintenance skills, including light carpentry and plumbing skills.
The Parks and Facilities Operator performs a wide range of duties that vary throughout the year
- Daily (winter seasonal) customer service delivery, Zamboni Operation, ice maintenance, arena ice plant maintenance, facility cleaning, garbage removal and recycling, snow removal and grounds maintenance, and facility maintenance. Outdoor Rink installation and maintenance.
- Risk Management: Inspect, identify, assess and prioritize risks.
- Light/medium duty equipment and hand tool operation and maintenance.
- Performing duties to maintain sports fields, parks and the cemetery.
- Safe operation of equipment associated with parks management.
- Respond appropriately to patrons/residents inquires or concerns.
- Active participation in the Town's Health and Safety Program.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license and driver's abstract required.
- Criminal Record Check with vulnerable check is required.
- High School Diploma is required.
- Arena Operator 1, Parks and Sports Fields 1 and Building Maintenance 1 are assets.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
This is a permanent unionized full-time position consisting of a 40 hour work week. The Town offers a comprehensive benefits package and Local Authorities Pension Plan. The wage for this position will be based on qualifications and experience.
