Job description
NAIT’s Power Engineering Technology program is designed to prepare students for careers in industrial, government and commercial establishments.We are seeking an energetic, empathetic, student‑focused instructor with a demonstrated commitment to motivating learners and supporting academic achievement. Candidates should have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and proven experience delivering adult education in a postsecondary or skills‑based learning environment. Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and systems, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively, is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom and laboratory settingsOrganize and supervise practical assignmentsFacilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materialsManage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environmentEvaluate the learning process and provide meaningful feedback to studentsRespond to student issuesUtilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotionsMaintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleaguesActively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Academic Model as identified by the instituteUtilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvementImprove the quality of instruction through professional development activitiesParticipate in course reviews, program reviews and curriculum developmentMaintain contact with relevant industriesSkills & AbilitiesDemonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleaguesA strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievementExceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settingsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologiesOperate boilers and related auxiliary equipment up to 7 hours a dayQualificationsSecond‑ or First‑Class Power Engineer certificate is requiredMinimum eight years of related experience in the field is requiredAdditional relevant post‑secondary education and/or professional development training is an assetPost‑secondary teaching and/or leadership experience is considered an assetThis position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.Remuneration Salary range: $69,189.78 - $120,361.23, commensurate with education and experience.
