Job Title: Pipe LayerJob DescriptionJoin a civil construction team as a Pipe Layer specializing in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground piping systems for water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure projects. You will work on active construction sites, using your technical skills and physical stamina to install pipe systems accurately and safely while collaborating closely with a field crew.
Responsibilities
- Install underground piping systems, including storm, sanitary, and water mains, according to project specifications and grade requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes to ensure accurate pipe placement.
- Align and position pipes to the required depth and grade using lasers or transit levels.
- Perform trench preparation, including measuring, grading, and compacting the trench base.
- Connect pipe components, including PVC, concrete, HDPE, and ductile iron, using appropriate methods and tools.
- Assist with excavation, backfilling, and compaction processes to ensure stable and durable installations.
- Ensure proper bedding, anchoring, and sealing of pipe systems to meet quality and performance standards.
- Inspect pipes for defects or damage and verify that installations comply with project and quality requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and reliable working condition.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and site regulations at all times.
- Work collaboratively with equipment operators, laborers, and foremen to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Essential Skills- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a pipe layer in civil construction.
- Hands-on experience working with underground utilities, including water, sewer, and drainage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, site plans, and survey markings.
- Knowledge of trench safety, shoring, and excavation best practices.
- Proficiency with civil construction tasks related to pipe installation and alignment.
- Ability to use lasers or transit levels to set and verify pipe grade and alignment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including frequent lifting of heavy materials.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a construction crew in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience working in civil construction environments across multiple sites.
- Familiarity with different pipe materials such as PVC, concrete, HDPE, and ductile iron.

Work Environment
This role is based on civil construction sites in areas such as Horseshoe Bay and Langley, with work extending primarily across the Langley and Vancouver region. The standard schedule runs Monday to Friday for a minimum of 8 hours per day, typically from 7:00 . to 3:00 ., with a 30-minute paid break. You will work outdoors in an active construction environment and in various weather conditions, performing physically demanding tasks that include frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more. The position may require overtime, weekend work, and early morning starts depending on project demands.
