Data Governance Analyst - HYBRID

In this role, you will transition away from the pure execution of data moving and focus heavily on setting the rules, defining policies, and enforcing data compliance. You will collaborate cross-functionally to build data definitions, establish robust data stewardship models, and ensure all core SAP data objects meet rigid internal and regulatory standards. This position is ideal for an analyst who thrives on structured data management, metadata architecture, and risk mitigation within a major corporate ERP transformation.

Responsibilities
1. Policy Framework & Standards Governance
Define, document, and publish data governance policies and comprehensive standards for critical SAP data objects (e.g., Customer, Vendor, Material, and Finance).

Maintain clear data structures, metadata definitions, and functional documentation within approved enterprise data catalogs.

Support the rollout and configuration of data governance tools, system extensions, and automated approval workflows.

2. Data Stewardship & Stakeholder Alignment
Establish, mature, and support formal data ownership and data stewardship models across diverse business domains.

Collaborate daily with business units and IT teams to align on data definitions, business rules, and technical data standards.

Facilitate interactive data governance workshops with stakeholders to resolve conflicting data definitions and drive organizational alignment.

Partner with functional streams (Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain) to ensure end-to-end data requirements match future-state business processes.

3. Risk, Audit & Compliance
Review SOX Compliance documentation and partner closely with internal control and audit teams to gather, validate, and implement SOX requirements.

Ensure all data management frameworks comply fully with corporate policies, data privacy acts, and external regulatory mandates.

Assist with formal project closure activities, ensuring all data-related deliverables are fully completed, validated, and signed off by business owners.

4. Migration Support & Quality Metrics
Support targeted data migration activities, providing data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation oversight specifically for the master data governance tool implementation.

Track data quality trends and leverage profiling metrics to identify systematic data gaps, contributing directly to root-cause remediation planning.

Qualifications
Core Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

Experience: 3–7 years of professional experience operating within data governance, data management, or data quality roles.

ERP Exposure: Proven experience working on or supporting large-scale SAP implementations (S/4HANA environment is highly preferred).

Domain Knowledge: Deep, fundamental understanding of master data domains (specifically Customer, Vendor, Material, or Finance data blocks).

Migration Fundamentals: Practical familiarity with enterprise data migration concepts, data cleansing routines, and validation methodologies.

Technical Skills Matrix
SAP Infrastructure: Solid working knowledge of SAP tables, data tracking structures, and core transactions (e.g., SE16N), alongside data extraction tools.

Database Agility: Strong, platform-independent understanding of relational databases and data structures.

Analytics Toolkit: Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities paired with hands-on experience using data profiling and data quality diagnostic software.

Governance Tooling (Asset): Experience utilizing specialized data governance or metadata management platforms (such as SAP MDG, Prospecta MDO, Microsoft Purview, DataSphere, or Information Steward) is considered a major asset.

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)
Direct project history supporting large-scale ERP transformation initiatives.

Professional background operating within highly regulated industrial sectors (e.g., Energy, Finance, Utilities).

Comprehensive understanding of data privacy frameworks and compliance-driven data environments.

Summary
Our Client is seeking a strategic Data Governance Analyst to support a large-scale SAP implementation project. This role is responsible for capturing data requirements and establishing comprehensive data governance standards to ensure the deployment of high-quality, consistent, and compliant enterprise data. You will act as the structural anchor of the data ecosystem, working closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to define data ownership and ensure long-term system sustainability.
