An introduction to the principles and concepts of animation. Creative and basic technical knowledge of the tools and techniques essential to the development and production of animation, including historical and contemporary approaches. Critical history of animation within visual art, its historical and political developments, and practitioners.

Compensation
Effective September 1, 2026 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2026 - $15, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).
Qualifications

2.Previousteaching experience in an animation studio class of at least two years at the university level isrequired.
3. Experience usinganimation in a visual arts practice isrequired(studio-based visual artist, not commercial animator).
4. Knowledge of Photoshop, Dragon Frame and video editing software isrequired.
5. Knowledge of the history of animation in a visual arts context isrequired.
6. Critical knowledge required of contemporary practices in visual arts cultural production; major historical trajectories in 20th Century visual art; major practitioners in 20th Century visual artisrequired.
7. A record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on animation demonstrative of standing in the art community isrequired.
8.Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught ( course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) isrequired.
