The Opportunity Living Sky School Division is seeking a School Counsellor to join our Learning Services team. School Counsellors play a vital role in supporting the mental health, well-being, and success of students. Working collaboratively with school staff, families, and community partners, the successful candidate will provide preventative, responsive, and developmental supports that help students thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and youth while working within a collaborative and student-centered school division committed to wellness and belonging. The Role The School Counsellor will: Provide responsive counselling supports for students individually and in groups Support student well-being through preventative and capacity-building initiatives Assist schools in responding to behavioural, emotional, social, and mental health concerns Collaborate with school teams, families, and community agencies to support student success Participate in crisis response and critical incident support when required Promote positive mental health, resilience, and healthy relationships The Right Person We are looking for an individual who: Builds strong, respectful relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment Is comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Values equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices Has strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Is committed to supporting the diverse needs of children and youth Can adapt to changing situations and respond effectively to student needs Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in educational, counselling, or community settings is considered an asset. Qualifications Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related human services field Experience providing counselling or mental health supports is considered an asset Knowledge of community resources and referral processes is considered an asset Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence and reliable vehicle, as travel may be required Why Join Living Sky?
