Job description

Santé Québec - Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal is hiring!

Are you looking for a meaningful job where every day can have a major impact in the life of a child?

The Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, located in Westmount, are seeking criminologists for full-time permanent and temporary positions within the Evaluation and Orientation (EO) Service for Youth Protection (DPJ) reports.

At Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, we are driven by a shared conviction: to protect young people and offer them a future filled with hope.

What will you do in practice?

You will work with English-speaking children and families from diverse communities, some of whom may be facing neglect, abuse, or personal or family challenges.

Within the Evaluation and Orientation (EO) Service, you will analyze reports and implement the necessary protective measures when a child’s safety or development is at risk.

A demanding role—human… and deeply rewarding!

Your day-to-day mission:

  • Go into the field to meet children, families, and professionals;
  • Quickly assess situations, including risks, needs, safety, and the child’s development;
  • Propose concrete and safe solutions (living environment, resources, interventions);
  • Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to each youth;
  • Support parents and guide youth in developing positive behaviors;
  • Facilitate activities that promote adaptation, rehabilitation, and social reintegration;
  • Clarify the child’s life plan and facilitate their integration into their environment;
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with legal professionals, physicians, specialists, and other network professionals;
  • Write reports, document case files, and contribute to the improvement of clinical tools.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The ideal candidate :

  • Is a member of the OPCQ (or in the process of becoming a member).
  • Is fluent in English and French.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Is adaptable and able to manage changing priorities.

Why choose Youth Protection? For all these reasons:

  • Financial bonus: salary premiums where applicable, mobile leave days in addition to vacation and sick days, partial reimbursement of professional order membership fees—and more!
  • Comprehensive, progressive, and hands-on training lasting 3 to 6 months to help you step into your role with confidence.
  • Exceptional clinical support and ongoing personalized guidance.
  • A dynamic and caring team spirit, with a friendly and relaxed work atmosphere.
  • The opportunity to develop strong clinical expertise in youth intervention.
  • A stimulating clinical-legal environment alongside passionate professionals.
  • Varied, challenging days—never routine.
  • Opportunity to make a direct contribution to the protection of the most vulnerable individuals.

Protecting youth, a career that gives hope, where criminological expertise contributes directly to the protection of the most vulnerable children.
