MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Principal Consultant – Structural Geology to join a leading international mining consulting practice based in Toronto, Ontario.
This is a newly created position driven by continued growth within a highly regarded geology and mining consulting team. The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical leader, providing structural geology expertise across a diverse portfolio of exploration, resource development, and mining projects while contributing to client development, mentorship, and strategic growth initiatives.
This role is ideal for a highly respected structural geologist who enjoys combining technical excellence with consulting, mentorship, and client engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support structural geology studies for mining and exploration projects across all stages of the project lifecycle
- Conduct belt-scale and deposit-scale structural analysis and interpretation of mineralized systems
- Provide technical leadership in structural geology, geological modelling, and mineral deposit interpretation
- Contribute to exploration targeting, resource development studies, operational support, and engineering investigations
- Utilize field observations, geophysical data, and advanced 3D geological modelling to support project outcomes
- Prepare and review technical reports, studies, presentations, and client deliverables
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, engineers, hydrogeologists, geochemists, and mining professionals
- Mentor junior and intermediate consultants and support technical development across the team
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development activities
- Participate in technical conferences, industry events, and professional networking activities
- Contribute to proposal development, project planning, and strategic growth initiatives
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree specializing in Structural Geology, Economic Geology, or a related discipline
- Professional registration with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO) or eligibility to obtain registration
- Minimum 10+ years of applied structural geology experience within the mining or mineral exploration sector
- Strong experience conducting field-based, belt-scale and deposit-scale structural analysis and interpretation
- Extensive experience with mineralized systems and ore deposit studies
- Proficiency with Leapfrog and geological modelling software
- Experience utilizing GIS platforms and geological data management systems
- Strong theoretical foundation combined with the ability to apply practical solutions to complex geological challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong mentoring and leadership capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant experience within a mining consulting environment
- Strong background supporting gold exploration and gold mineralized systems
- Experience with modern implicit modelling techniques and geophysical interpretation
- Established mining industry network and demonstrated ability to build long-term client relationships
- Experience supporting projects across exploration, resource development, mining operations, and technical studies
- Additional language capabilities such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese
- Experience contributing to business development, client engagement, and strategic growth initiatives
