Job description
Job Title: IT Systems Engineer – Linux Infrastructure & Automation
Number of Openings: 2
Job Type: 6-Month and 12-Month contract available
Location: Downtown, Toronto (Hybrid/Onsite as required)
Hours per week: 40
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
Rate: $60/hr T4 OR $75/hr Inc.

Position Overview
Our client is seeking two experienced IT Systems Engineers to support a large-scale infrastructure integration and deployment initiative associated with a major acquisition project. These contract positions will play a key role in designing, deploying, automating, and supporting enterprise Linux environments while assisting with the build-out of new infrastructure platforms and services. The ideal candidates are seasoned infrastructure professionals with strong Linux administration experience, automation expertise, and exposure to virtualized environments. Experience working in fast-paced enterprise environments and supporting infrastructure deployment projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, configure, and support enterprise Linux server environments.
  • Execute server builds, system installations, and infrastructure deployments to support acquisition and integration activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts and processes to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks.
  • Implement and support infrastructure-as-code and automation frameworks where applicable.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain stability and reliability.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, migration, and integration activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and deployment standards.
  • Assist with virtualization platform deployment, configuration, and administration.
  • Support testing, validation, and production readiness activities for newly deployed environments.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Systems Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering and deploying Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or similar).
  • Experience with automation and scripting technologies such as Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Proven experience deploying and supporting enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across operating systems, infrastructure, and deployment processes.
  • Experience working within project-driven environments involving infrastructure builds, migrations, or integrations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with virtualized infrastructure platforms, particularly Nutanix.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix AHV.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, configuration management, and systems automation tools.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with networking, storage, and security concepts within enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or large-scale infrastructure integration projects.
