Responsibilities
As a director, you will report to a principal and contribute to the implementation of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s (OAG) strategic and operational priorities, aligning with the organisational vision and values.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead audit operation teams responsible for the core mandate of legislative auditing.
- Supervise and manage the performance of team members, ensuring audit quality and compliance with audit standards and OAG policies, and interacting with key internal and external interested parties.
- Contribute to transformation initiatives supporting core business to deliver high‑quality audits (performance, financial or special examinations) or audit services.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement measures, working collaboratively across the office.
- For Stream 1 (Performance Audit): lead teams in conducting performance audits in diverse areas such as health, social supports, environment and sustainable development, Inuit and First Nations issues, security, and economic development.
- For Stream 2 (Financial Audit): lead teams in conducting or supporting financial audits and/or special examinations of Crown corporations.
Work Environment
Work at 240 Sparks Avenue, Ottawa, up to five days per week. The OAG is an independent legislative auditor under Canada’s Parliament, territorial legislative assemblies, and Crown corporation boards, providing objective, fact‑based information and expert advice on government programs, spending, and operations.
Qualifications – Essential
- Education (Stream 1 – Performance Audit): Master’s or graduate degree with a relevant specialization (Public/Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Sciences, Engineering, Law, Data Analytics, Economics, Social Sciences) OR graduation with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics, plus a recognised Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Education (Stream 2 – Financial Audit): Graduation with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics, plus a recognised Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience (Stream 1 – Performance Audit): Minimum nine (9) years in planning, conducting, and reporting phases of performance audits, internal audits, program evaluations or assessment of complex projects.
- Experience (Stream 2 – Financial Audit): Minimum seven (7) years post‑designation experience in planning, conducting, and reporting phases of financial statement audits performed in accordance with International Standards on Auditing or Canadian Auditing Standards.
- Experience (Both Streams): Minimum three (3) consecutive years in a supervisory role managing human and financial resources at the OAG equivalent or another organization, plus significant experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external interested parties.

Language Requirements
Applicants must be proficient in English and French, following Canada’s bilingual requirement. Knowledge in other languages may be considered an asset.
