Duties
As a director, you will report to a principal and contribute to the implementation of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s (OAG) strategic and operational priorities. You will lead audit operation teams responsible for legislative auditing, supervising performance of team members, ensuring audit quality and compliance with audit standards and OAG policies, and interacting with key internal and external interested parties. You will support transformation initiatives, identify and implement continuous improvement measures, and provide support for special examinations of Crown corporations and performance audits. As a Director in IT Audit, you will lead a team of IT auditors primarily supporting financial statement audits in conducting IT general control audits and supporting special examinations of Crown corporations and performance audits.
Work environment
We employ over 750 employees across Canada, including our primary Ottawa Office. We are independent legislative auditors, working on behalf of Canada’s Parliament, territorial legislative assemblies, and boards of Crown corporations. Our audits provide objective, fact‑based information and expert advice on government programs, spending, and operations. The OAG is a separate employer of the federal public service. The incumbent will work on-site at 240 Sparks Street in Ottawa up to five days per week.
Intent of the process
This process is to staff a position of IT Audit Director within Audit Operations at the OAG on an indeterminate basis.
Positions to be filled
1 Director, IT Audit (DX-FIN-00)
Essential for the job
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution specializing in information technology, accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics.
- A recognized Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation from Canada.
- A Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) professional designation.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) cumulative years of information technology and systems audit experience, including planning, conducting and reporting of financial statement audits performed in accordance with International Standards on Auditing or Canadian Auditing Standards.
- A minimum of three (3) consecutive years of experience in a management role, managing human and financial resources at a director or equivalent management level.
- Significant experience in managing teams that are testing and/or relying on controls in different IT environments such as SAP, Oracle, Windows, Linux, Mainframe, AWS, Azure etc.
- Significant experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external interested parties.

Language requirements (essential for the job)
- Certified information systems security professional (CISSP) or Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certifications.
- Experience in applying data analytics in audits, automated audit workflows, and advanced technology in conducting financial audits and/or IT audits.
