Job descriptionAbout the Organization The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service. With more than 5,000 donation bins and an active home pick‑up service across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items to raise funds for Diabetes Canada.
Position Overview Charitable Donations Pickup Driver – Part Time (up to 29 hours per week). Hourly wage: $19.25.

Responsibilities
Understand and promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the public and volunteers
Maintain thorough knowledge of the organization’s goals, objectives, services, programs, and structure
Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with all laws and regulations
Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections
Complete and submit appropriate paperwork daily, including hours‑of‑service logs
Carry and present proof of valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and vehicle inspection documentation
Check in with dispatch at scheduled times
Provide a message card to each donor
Log all assigned pickups accurately
Unload merchandise as instructed and return equipment to the office each day
Report route discrepancies with dispatch
Ensure only authorized personnel ride in the truck
Participate in required driving‑related NDT education, initiatives, directives, and procedures
Perform additional duties as needed to support Operations
Qualifications
Grade 12 education or equivalent experience
Ability to read maps
Ability to handle 10‑50 lbs. loads
Ability to drive a 3‑Ton (16‑foot) straight truck
Strong organizational skills and route‑planning ability
Professional, positive image to the public
Effective communication with a variety of people
Calm assistance to upset clients
Ability to maintain a public‑relations attitude during stressful situations
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions
Good command of English
Superior customer‑service skills
Full Class 5 and/or G license or higher, passenger car or light truck
Minimum of 5 years actual driving experience at that level (2 years if professional commercial vehicle training received)
Clean driver abstract, less than 21 days old, with no violations or accidents within last 3 years
