Position : R&D Baker Reports to : Director, R&D

We are looking for a R&D Baker to join our R&Dteam! Our R&D Baker will be working closely with the R&D and Operations teams to support our product development and commercialization efforts. This includes bake testing new and existing products or ingredients and preparing product samples for presentations.

You may work odd hours on occasion, including early morning shifts, to accommodate our customer and operational needs. There will be opportunities to grow your skills, learn our unique processes, and with time, develop into a subject matter expert!

    • Knowledge & skills

  • You have strong working knowledge of traditional bakery ingredients and products
  • You understand bakery production principles, processes, and equipment
  • You have strong baking skills
  • You have solid computer skills including MS Office

    • Experience

  • You are aJourneyman Baker and / or have a Red Seal designation
  • You have prior experience in a commercial bakery or food production facility

  • Product development and R&D experience

  • Formulate new and existing products to meet objectives
  • Coordinate and supervise production batch testing
  • Provide support to the production team as needed
  • Maintain detailed and comprehensive records of all documents

    • Detailed Description of Duties :

  • Formulate new and existing products to meet sensory, quality, cost and manufacturability
  • Coordinate and supervise production batch testing to validate formula and process in the production environment
  • Provide support to the production team to identify and address quality and process issues
  • Maintain detailed, comprehensive records of formulations, process parameters, finished product results, sensory results and project time
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for formula / process improvement and cost reduction
  • Identify and evaluate ingredients for functionality and suitability
  • Lead or take an ownership role in product commercialization
  • Prepare samples of products as needed to support company presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
