Join our interprofessional team as a Respiratory Therapist, providing high‑quality respiratory care across diverse clinical areas. The ideal candidate is committed to best practice, patient safety, and collaborative healthcare delivery.
ROLE
Provide therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care for patients in all hospital areas including ICU, Emergency, Obstetrics, OR, Medical/Surgical Units, Dialysis, and Chronic Care
Deliver specialized services such as CPR, ventilator support for neonatal to adult patients, airway management, tracheostomy care, therapeutic gas administration, aerosol therapy, and patient evaluations
Perform cardiopulmonary procedures including stress tests, Holter monitoring, pulmonary function testing, pacemaker checks, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and home oxygen assessments
Participate in high‑risk patient transport and provide respiratory education to patients, families, and staff including tobacco cessation support
Ensure accurate, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment while following all manufacturer guidelines and hospital policies
Collaborate with the interprofessional team on patient care, policy development, quality improvement, and equipment evaluation
Maintain strict patient confidentiality, adhere to administrative and departmental procedures, and demonstrate strong customer service and professionalism
Support quality assurance and continuous quality improvement initiatives including equipment QA programs, incident reporting, and best practice development
Assist physicians and support clinical procedures within scope of practice while ensuring positive working relationships with all health team members
Complete clerical and administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, workload documentation, OHIP billing review, and coordination with Materials Management
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of a recognized respiratory therapy program which includes both didactic teaching and supervised clinical experience
Registered as a Respiratory Therapist with the College of Respiratory Therapy of Ontario
Current BLS, ALS, and NRP
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
Thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of respiratory therapy in both theory and practice
Sound knowledge of all equipment and appropriate skills to operate equipment
Communication skills in dealing with patients, staff members and physicians
Organizational skills to perform required duties effectively and efficiently
Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
TEACH Certificate Program in Tobacco Cessation (CAMH)
Asthma/COPD Educator
Current PALS
Current membership with the Respiratory Therapy Society of Ontario

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Location: Multi‑Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. Exceptions will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Hours of Work: Shifts are currently 12 hours in length. Must be available to work days, nights, and weekends. Hours may change according to departmental requirements and per the collective agreement.
