About Allnorth

BIG ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW, SMALL ENOUGH TO KNOW YOU

Allnorth is a multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery, and construction services company. We provide smart and practical project solutions to clients in the metals and minerals, energy and renewables, fiber and chemicals, and infrastructure sectors. We continue to grow!

Our team is our most valuable asset, and a Triple Bottom Line (TBL) philosophy is at the heart of our business. It takes a talented, motivated, and empowered team to delight our clients while driving profitability for all parties. Safety is part of our DNA, we are committed to building and nurturing Indigenous relationships, we support our communities, and we recognize the importance of environmental stewardship.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an Intermediate Project Controller to join our dynamic consulting environment and support the successful delivery of multiple projects across diverse clients and sectors. This role is suited to an experienced project controls professional who can manage competing priorities, work with a high degree of independence, and exercise sound judgement in a fast-paced, multi-project setting.

You will partner closely with Project Managers, technical leads, and finance teams to provide accurate forecasting, insightful performance reporting, and disciplined cost and schedule control across a portfolio of active projects. In a consultancy environment, you will be expected to interpret contracts, translate client requirements into effective WBS structures, and provide meaningful analysis that supports decision-making and protects project margins.

This role involves hands-on responsibility for project setup, cost control, earned value management, scheduling, forecasting, and change management, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of project controls tools, standards, and processes across the organization.

A Day in the Life

  • Own financial tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis for a portfolio of assigned projects, ensuring accurate and timely visibility of project performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and explain project forecasts, including Estimate at Completion (EAC), and clearly articulate drivers of forecast changes.
  • Investigate root causes of cost and schedule variances across projects and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks, prevent write-offs, and protect project profitability.
  • Conduct regular reviews of time entries and cost allocations across projects, resolving discrepancies and reinforcing cost discipline.
  • Lead and facilitate bi-weekly project financial review meetings with Project Managers and key stakeholders, reviewing project KPIs and commercial performance. Provide professional challenge and actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making, drive accountability, and ensure timely resolution of project issues and performance concerns.
  • Proactively identify trends, scope changes, and emerging risks across active projects and maintain trend and change logs.
  • Coordinate the preparation of change order documentation and ensure approved changes are accurately reflected in project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Support Project Managers in client communications related to change management, including substantiating cost and schedule impacts and following up on approvals.
  • Support project initiation and setup through contract review, ERP configuration, WBS development, and alignment of project controls, billing, forecasting, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare clear internal and client-facing reports, dashboards, variance narratives, and performance summaries that translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules for client-facing reporting, including progress updates, resource planning, and schedule variance analysis.
  • Monitor resource utilization across active and proposed projects, proactively identifying capacity constraints, over-allocations, and under-utilization risks.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple projects and clients while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and responsiveness.
  • Provide independent analysis and professional challenge to Project Managers to support sound decision-making and effective project execution.
  • Identify cross-project trends and systemic issues and escalate risks or opportunities as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the refinement and consistent application of project controls tools, processes, and standards across the organization.
  • Support mentoring and knowledge sharing with junior project controls staff.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting quality, forecasting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in project controls, preferably within a consulting or professional services environment managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple Project Managers and clients across concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract interpretation, project setup, WBS development, forecasting, and client reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (BST10 experience preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management (EVM), cost control, and forecasting techniques.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) supporting client reporting.
  • PMP or CAPM certification is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Comfortable engaging in respectful but firm conversations to ensure financial, contractual, and schedule integrity.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

What's in it for You?

We believe that a happy and fulfilled team leads to exceptional results, which is why we offer a range of perks designed to support your well-being, career growth, and community engagement.

  • Work schedule and location are flexible, allowing for better work-life balance.
  • Employee Assistance Program for team members and their families.
  • A culture of respect and inclusivity fosters long-term relationships and a team atmosphere.
  • Professional development and growth opportunities (e.g., New and Young Worker Mentorship Program).
  • Team Member Referral Program.
  • A paid Volunteer Day away from work to support the community.
  • Monthly Lunch & Learn sessions.
  • Opportunities to bond with other team members, have fun, and make a difference through involvement in social and safety committees, as well as fundraising and community support initiatives.

WE TAKE CARE OF YOU SO YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF OUR CLIENTS

In joining us you’ll face rewarding, career-developing challenges that enable you to contribute to our clients’ successes, and despite how much we grow, you’ll never be just a number, but rather a vital member of the Allnorth Team.

Engage with us at Allnorth and be empowered to enrich people’s lives, including your own.
