Job Summary You will be part of a very special team at Live Nation’s newest Canadian venue, HISTORY Ottawa — a state‑of‑the‑art venue with a capacity of up to 2,000 that hosts over 180 concerts and private events annually. This role involves supporting barback operations in a high‑volume concert environment and contributing to the success of live shows.
Responsibilities
Lead and support the barback team during event operations.
Help train, mentor, and support new barback staff while promoting venue standards and expectations.
Assist the F&B Manager with month‑end inventory, including physical counts and documentation.
Delegate tasks and provide direction to barback staff to maintain efficient and organized bar operations.
Ensure all bars are fully stocked with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and operational supplies before, during, and after events.
Monitor inventory levels throughout events and communicate restocking needs with the barback team when necessary.
Assist bartenders and bar staff with operational support to ensure fast and efficient guest service.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards across all bar and storage areas.
Coordinate garbage removal, recycling, and product organization at the end of each event.
Troubleshoot operational issues and support management in maintaining smooth event execution.
Support setup, breakdown, and closing duties for all bar operations.
Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies and procedures.
Maintain a positive, professional, and team‑oriented attitude in a fast‑paced live entertainment environment.
Qualifications
Must be SmartServe Certified and at least 19 years of age.
At least 2 years of experience as a barback or in a similar role in a high‑volume environment.
Knowledge of various spirits, beers, and wines.
Strong initiative and ability to anticipate the needs of bartenders.
Must be able to stand during scheduled shifts, withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while maintaining first‑class hospitality and food‑and‑beverage service.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal in English.
Liaise with F&B management team on par levels and various other food and beverage needs.
Passion for live events and a desire to ensure exceptional customer experience.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Benefits The expected compensation for this position in Ontario is: $20 per hour.
