Excavator Operator (Civil Construction)

Location: Langley, BC (projects from Horseshoe Bay to Vancouver)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (30-minute paid break)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Excavator Operator to join our growing civil construction team. This role is ideal for an experienced operator who specializes in underground utility installation and takes pride in precision, safety, and teamwork.

You will play a key role in building essential infrastructure, including water, sewer, and storm systems, while working on active job sites across the Lower Mainland.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, and backhoes
• Perform trenching and excavation for underground utility installations
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and blueprints
• Prepare and maintain construction sites (clearing, grading, leveling)
• Collaborate with foremen, supervisors, engineers, and crew members
• Safely load, move, and place materials to support project progress
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Perform backfilling, compaction, and final grading
• Follow all safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and company policies
• Identify hazards and contribute to a safe, productive job site

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Excavator Operator in civil construction
• Proven experience with underground utilities (water, sewer, storm systems)
• Mainline installation experience
• Strong understanding of trenching, shoring, and excavation safety practices
• Valid driver’s license

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Frequent lifting of 50+ lbs
• Projects located throughout the Lower Mainland (Horseshoe Bay to Langley/Vancouver)
• Overtime, weekend work, and early starts may be required based on project needs
