About the Opportunity
TheLegal Counselwillreport to the General Counsel and willbe a key member of theLegal candidate will support a broad range of mattersacross all Shannex business divisionsincludingclaims management and dispute resolutionprivacycorporate/commerciallegal operationsand general risk management.
- Act as a strategic partner tooperatingleadersprovidingpractical day-to-daylegal adviceto enable businessobjectiveswhile managing risk.
- Provide privacy law support including guidance on compliance obligations incident responseand data-sharing practices.
- Liaise with external counsel on litigation regulatory and employment & labour matters.
- Assistwith the development review and revision of policies and procedures.
- Contribute towards strategic planning and process improvement for the legal team.
- Partner with others to support investigations and compliance matters andregardinggeneral risk assessment and management.
- Deliver practical legal guidance and training to business teams translating requirements into workable processes.
- Support the review drafting and negotiation of a range of commercial agreements.
- Supportbusiness transactionsspecialprojectsand othergenerallegal matters asneeded
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvementcollaborationand accountability you bring:
- Completion of a degree in law (JD or LLB)
- Membership in good standing with the Nova Scotia Barristers Societyor eligiblefor membership
- Minimum of5years of legal experience preferablywith alargelaw firmor in-house legal department
- Desire toapply yourspecializedexpertisein any of the practice areas describedin the About the Opportunity sectionwhile learning to practice as a generalist
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured deadline-driven environment
- Strong communicationskills and the ability to work well independently and collaboratively
- Interest in technology knowledge management and process improvement
- Strong critical thinking sound judgment and risk awareness
- Experience in healthcare seniors care or another regulated sector is considered an asset
- Performs additional duties as required
