Job description
Role: Business System Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON – Hybrid

Required Skills: Mastercard, Interac, TSYS, Cirrus, Visa

Required Skills & Experience

  • Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience and a degree in a technology-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of payment systems (Mastercard, Interac, TSYS, etc.).
  • Experience leading project discussions, stakeholder analysis, and requirements gathering.
  • Ability to ask the right questions to address ambiguity.
  • Experience using JIRA to track issues through various stages.
  • Ability to bring together business needs with vendor offerings.
  • Ability to add value during the project by becoming a product SME.
  • Base understanding of payment networks, including Mastercard, Cirrus, Interac, Visa, and TSYS.
  • Knowledge of authorization, posting, and reconciliation processes for payment transactions.
  • Familiarity with payment network architecture.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the assigned business/group.
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Helps determine business priorities and the best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Supports the business in production support, system enhancements, product upgrades, and development.
  • Tracks metrics and milestones, makes recommendations for resolution, and escalates issues as appropriate.
  • May network with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and identify best practices.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Focus is primarily on the business/group within BMO; may have a broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within established guidelines.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
